Throughout his career, Rochester Senator Joe Robach has been a strong and vocal support not just of Rochester natives competing at the highest level of sports, but also the teams that wear the red, white and blue of the United States of America. This week Rochester native, Abby Wambach and her teammates on the United States Women’s National Team won the 2012 Olympic Gold Medal at the XXX Olympiad in London. The Women’s National Team defeated Japan by the score of 2-1, on two goals by Carli Lloyd. During their time in London, the United States Women’s National team went undefeated, with a record of six wins and zero losses. Through the six games, Abby Wambach scored five goals and is the second highest scoring player in the history of women’s soccer. Senator Joe Robach had the honor to meet four members of the national team during their visit to Rochester after the conclusion of the 2011 World Cup; Rochester native Abby Wambach, Megan Rapione, Ali Krieger, and former Western New York Flash superstar Alex Morgan. He looks forward to welcoming them back to Rochester when they play their first post Olympic international friendly.
In addition, Senator Joe Robach supports amateur athletics here in Rochester. From supporting State Champion East High Girls Basketball to the Hispanic Youth Baseball League to the Brighton Little League. Joe Robach has personally sponsored some of these teams so that they are able to play while also collecting various sports equipment to donate so that local teams have what they need to be successful.
