This week Rochester Senator Joe Robach had the privilege to join the students, faculty, and staff at the Rochester City School Disitrict’s Flower City School #54 for their first day of school! Students had the opportunity to meet not only Senator Robach, but City of Rochester School District Superintendent Bolgen Vargas and take part in activities on “The Green Machine.” “The Green Machine” is a solar powered research vehicle, designed by Monroe #1 BOCES Technology Service. It is an interactive mobile science laboratory that provides state-of-the-art technology in a curriculum-rich environment. It includes five workstations (CSI, Ecology, Geography, Zoology, and Medical), which students are assigned to work together in a specified scenario to solve a mystery. Rochester Senator Joe Robach wanted to join the students to wish them best wishes to all the students for a successful 2012-2013 school year!
Senator Robach has always been a steadfast supporter of Rochester’s education community. From the Robach sponsored education bill Senate bill S.6870 which established that debt payments for the Rochester School Facilities Modernization Program shall not affect the City of Rochester’s Maintenance of Effort Requirements. Allowing the innovative and cost effective financing options for reconstruction of up to 13 school buildings. As well as making sure that area students have the necessary school supplies for when they return to classes through the Senator Joe Robach School Supply Drive.
